Worcestershire Association of Carers is a charity that is an independent source of information, advice and support for the 63,000 unpaid adult carers in Worcestershire.
I was approached by the charity to provider interim marketing and communications support.
Their marketing and communications officer was moving on to pastures new. They were looking to appoint someone to take over the post, but wanted to take stock and redefine the role first. However, with the launch of a new brand and website imminent plus ongoing marketing commitments, leaving the role vacant wasn’t an option. They needed someone who could provide part time support for a couple of months to ‘tide them over’ and help shape the future permanent role.
I worked two days a week for the charity for five months in 2015.
Amongst other things I launched their new brand identity, which gives the charity a fresh, modern and professional appearance.
I was the in-house point of contact for their new website, helping to shape its structure, populate it with content, test it and launch it.
I coordinated the Spring edition of charity’s quarterly 12 page newsletter, which is sent to over 10,000 carers.
I ran several email campaigns to promote the charity’s work to its mailing list. I undertook several marketing activities in relation to Volunteers’ Week and Carers Week, two big events in the charity’s calendar.
I supported in the preparatory work for both their AGM and Conference.
And finally, when the permanent appointment was made, I trained my replacement.
The charity does some amazing work and has an incredibly dedicated and passionate team, so it was a pleasure to work with them. I’m delighted to say that my input was also valued.
