I’m Catherine Every, a writer and writing skills trainer. I’ve been helping organisations with their words since 2004.
I do this in two ways.
I’m the writer they call on when they have a high-profile document that needs to land well.
I’m the writing skills trainer and coach they call on to boost their people’s writing skills and confidence.
I specialise in working with healthcare and public sector organisations, particularly on large-scale projects that are too big to manage using in-house resource alone. I also work with tech and professional services organisations who need an expert pair of hands to write high-profile reports and white papers.
A little while ago, I asked my clients what they liked about working with me. Here’s what they said.
I’ll never choose to use the pretty but pointless phrase over the plain and simple one. I firmly believe the plain and simple phrase will get the message across more effectively.
I’ve been told my sessions have been transformational in giving people the skills they need to be better writers. On more than one occasion, someone has told me my explanations have helped them to understand something properly for the first time.
Several of my clients have been with me since the start of my part-time copywriting days in 2004. I think that says a lot about what I’m like to work with.
I live in Ledbury in Herefordshire with my husband, his two sons and our cat, Womble.
I’m a keen runner and am passionate about the difference it makes to mental and physical health. I’m a lead runner at my local running club, Ledbury & District Harriers, and a regular at my local parkrun.
I also open water swim and cycle.
As much as I enjoy all that activity, I’m just as happy at home, reading, making sourdough, or simply pottering.
My degree was in English Language and Literature, and I spent the first part of my career in publishing. I was a marketing manager for three publishers, the most famous of which was Oxford University Press.
The experiences gave me a thorough grounding in marketing principles, and you could always rely on me to create effective campaigns on time and on budget. But it became clear that writing was where I could make the most impact.
The next step was to a hybrid career. I worked part-time as a web copywriter at a web design agency and part time as a freelance copywriter.
In 2012, I left the web design agency to launch Pippin Copywriting Ltd, my own writing business.
Over time, as well as writing, I started to deliver writing skills workshops, and the name Pippin Copywriting no longer felt appropriate.
To reflect the expanded remit, in 2023 I rebranded the business as Every Word.
