Promotional features

Articles. Editorials. Advertorials. Whatever you want to call them, promotional features in industry magazines and journals are an important part of the marketer’s toolkit.

A good promotional feature only starts to reveal its true purpose when you are halfway through reading it. It promotes a product or service as part of a readable piece that also provides valuable information or advice for the reader.

To succeed, these features need to be written by an experienced copywriter. Someone who has the marketing skills and the writing skills to manipulate language so the features and benefits are clearly but subtly expressed.

General features

The marketing skills needed by general features writers aren’t immediately obvious, but they are vital nevertheless. The writer isn’t selling a product or service; they are selling the article itself. Unless a reader is being entertained or informed (or both) by the writer, they might not bother to finish reading the article. And if that happens too often, well, they might not bother to buy the next edition either.

I enjoy writing promotional pieces because I enjoy using my marketing experience. And I enjoy writing general features because I love to impart information and share my experiences with others. Whether it’s to promote or inform, if you need an article written, please get in touch.
